The Shadowhunters Chronicles
By Cassandra Clare
The Mortal Instruments, books
A
thousand years ago, the Angel Raziel mixed his blood with the blood of men and
created the race of the Nephilim. Human-angel hybrids, they walk among us,
unseen but ever-present, our invisible protectors. They call themselves
Shadowhunters. The Shadowhunters obey the laws set down in the Gray Book, given
to them by the angel: their mandate is to protect our world from the
interdimensional parasites they call demons, who travel from world to world,
razing and destroying everything in their path. Theirs is also the task of
keeping the peace among the warring Downworlders: the human-demon crossbreeds
we know as warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and faeries. In their duties they
are aided by the mysterious Silent Brothers. Their lips and eyes sewn shut, the
Silent Brothers rule over the City of Bones, the necropolis below the streets
of Manhattan that holds the dead bodies of slain Shadowhunters.
The Silent
Brothers keep the archival records of ever Shadowhunter ever born. They also
watch over the Mortal Instruments, the three divine objects the Angel Raziel
gave to his children. One is a sword. One is a mirror. And the last is a cup.
For a thousand years, the Nephilim have protected the Mortal Instruments. But
that was before the Uprising, the civil war that almost tore the Shadowhunters'
secret world apart. Though Valentine Morgenstern, the Shadowhunter who started
the war, is long dead, the wounds it left behind have never healed. Fifteen
years have passed since the Uprising. It's August in New York; the streets
blistering with heat. Rumors run rampant through Downworld that Valentine is
back, at the head of an army of Forsaken warriors. And the Mortal Cup has gone
missing...
When
Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly
expects to witness a murder— much less a murder committed by three teenagers
covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body
disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are
invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of
blood—to show that a boy has died.Or was he a boy? This is Clary’s first
meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of
demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a
little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary
is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and
Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in
ordinary people like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the
Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know... - Cassandra Clare
Review: The whole main series, which consist of six books is absolutely brilliant. The characters had great development and growth. The history closes incredibly well and the best thing is that we continue to see the character's lives even after the series finale, because on the next series they make small appearances.

The Mortal Instruments, movie (2013)
Details:
Director:
Harald Zwart
Writers:
Jessica Postigo (screenplay), Cassandra Clare (Based on her novel)
Stars: Lily
Collins, Jamie Campbell, Robert Sheehan
Synopsis: When her mother disappears, Clary Fray learns that she descends from a line of warriors who protect our world from demons. She joins forces with others like her and heads into a dangerous alternate New York called the Shadow World.
Review: The movie does not represent the 1st book of the series, which is based on. Even though it has some action scenes, the history does not get built up throughout the movie, the characters are not that bad but they couldn't have done much with the script they had. Overall, just to watch it once.

Decter
Stars:
Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende
Distributed
by: Freeform and Netlix
Stoline: Clary
Fray is a normal teenager living in Brooklyn with her mother. One day, she
discovers that she is descended from a line of Shadowhunters; humans born with
angelic blood that fight to protect our world from demons. After
her mother is kidnapped, Clary must team up with three Shadowhunters: Jace,
Alec and Isabelle and her best friend Simon on a quest to find her mother and
recover her past.
Review: This serie might not be the greatest thing made since Harry Potter, but is definetly better than the movie made back in 2013.
The characters here have had only three seesons to show some growth, because this year, Freeform has inform the fans of the series that it got cancelled and that the second part of the third season will air next year in January.
Overall, the serie has some CGI effects and the story definitely develops better than what we saw before.

The Infernal Devices
Summary
When
16-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination
is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying
is waiting for her in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other
supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors
dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization
called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a
Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another
person.
What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will
stop at nothing to claim Tessa’s power for his own. Friendless and hunted,
Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to
find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself
fascinated by — and torn between — two best friends: James, whose fragile
beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and
volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm’s length . . . everyone, that
is, but Tessa.
As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot
that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need
to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the
world… and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
There
are three books in the Infernal Devices series: Clockwork Angel, Clockwork
Prince, and Clockwork Princess. The Infernal Devices are often called a prequel
series to the Mortal Instruments, but only because they take place in an
earlier time period and contain some of the Mortal Instruments' characters'
ancestors. You don't have to read the Mortal Instruments before The Infernal
Devices. You don't have to read the The Infernal Devices before The Mortal
Instruments. You can read them in any order.
Review: This series is developed in the Victorian Era, which is totally awesome if think about all the dressing, and parties that the characters got to assist. The best thing of this series is that we get to see some of the characters that we got to love, again in some of the other books of the chronicles.

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy
Tales from
the Shadowhunter Academy series is written by Cassandra Clare in collaboration
with fellow authors and friends, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman.
Relelased
back in 2015 as e-novellas, the series follows the adventures of Simon Lewis,
one of the stars of Cassandra Clare’s internationally bestselling series The
Mortal Instruments, as he trains to become a Shadowhunter. Throughout the
course of Simon’s education, characters from the Mortal Instruments and the
Infernal Devices will make appearances, as will characters from the upcoming
Dark Artifices and Las Hours series. Once a mundane, then a vampire, Simons
prepares to enter the next phase of his life: Shadowhunter.
Simon Lewis
never thought he’d become a Shadowhunter… and now he has the chance. Ten
novellas, each released as an individual e-book over the course of ten months,
make up Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy.
Review: For those of you who have stick with Cassandra since she released TMI, knowing that Simon would become a shadowhunter after being a vampire was kind of a shock but one greatly received. Plus we get to know a lot of characters that will be extremely important in the timeline of the chronicles.
